Meet Kara, a DIY, sewing,  and refashion blogger.

Favorite quote?

Everything Rachel Hollis says.

How long have you been in business?

I've been blogging for almost 7 years.

What’s your favorite part about your job?

My favorite part of blogging is having a creative outlet I get to share with others.

What’s your least favorite part?

My least favorite part of blogging is trying to figure out everything on the tech side. The backend of a blog is no joke.

What advice would you give someone just starting out?

Invest in Pinterest. It's the only social media platform that drives tremendous amounts of traffic back to you.

Where's your favorite place to work? Coffee shop? From your bed? We want to know!

I have a craft room where I do everything related to my blog. It's my favorite room in the house. I like to call it "The Studio" to make it sound fancy.

Which Golden Girl do you relate to the most?

What inspired you to start your own biz or blog?

In 2012, I was teaching 4th grade when I became pregnant with my first son. I gave birth to him just 2 weeks after the school year ended. Babies sleep a lot. Which meant, I went from chasing and managing 4th graders all day to sitting in my house trying to figure out what to do while my baby was sleeping. One day on Pinterest, I came across a refashion, and I thought to myself, “I could do that!” And so my blog began, with the first post sharing how I turned my husband’s polos into a skirt. The name of my blog was called, “While Camden Sleeps,” since I was documenting the crafts I did while my baby, Camden, was sleeping. Camden is almost 7 now, and he doesn’t EVER nap anymore. My life has changed, so it felt right for the blog name to change as well, and in July of 2018, “While Camden Sleeps” became “Kara Metta” after my first and middle names.

Is this a side hustle or your full time gig?

It's a side hustle that's currently transiting into more of a full time gig.
